This morning I feel joyful. It is 6 a.m. and I can honestly say that isn’t a word that has come to mind often at this hour. I’m thinking about the past few weeks and what has happened and the people that I’ve been spending time with every day. It occurred to me that it is the spending time with others that has made me joyful:~D
My daughter and I take walks throughout the week and she encouraged me to register for a 5k race with her. It was a pleasant surprise when her boyfriend decided to register for the race as well. While I knew that we would be walking, I was really just looking forward to spending the time with them and seeing the beautiful college campus for the first time where the race would take place. While her boyfriend took off running with the others, my daughter and I spent more than an hour walking, talking, and taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. I knew there was a medal coming at the end but I didn’t think much about it at the beginning of the race. My daughter and I were the laggers in this race. We didn’t mind one bit! We still received our medals and she won a beautiful mug in the raffle afterwards. Before we headed home, we enjoyed lunch and went to our favorite coffee shop. It was a beautiful day:)
A few days ago I went to bible study and surprisingly, we had a full group this week:) I enjoyed the rich conversation and fellowship with all of the ladies. If there are any introverts reading this post, may I encourage you to take a small step out of your comfort zone and do something that you’ve never done before: Visit a church if you don’t attend one, join a book club, take a class, volunteer at a school (if you like children)… you never know who might cross your path. The point is to spend time with people every week, instead of texting, zoom or on social media. It seems that the more that I give~whether a smile, encouraging word or just sending a card, etc., the more joyful that I feel as well. May I encourage you, dear reader, to do the same- look for a way to bless someone else today with the presence of you!
