What is that one thing that most of us do when life seems to be falling apart? Prayer. Sometimes life has to “knock us down” before we’ll say a prayer. Im a firm believer in the power of prayer and my experience yesterday was another reminder that God does answer prayer.

Yesterday morning I was headed to an appointment and as soon as I hit the highway, my car started sputtering. A malfunction light and another light began to glow. I started praying. I wasn’t sure where I would end up by taking the next exit but I took the ramp anyway. I ended up in a neighborhood that I had never seen and there wasn’t a street sign in sight. I continued praying to make it to a gas station or some place more visible. The lights went off and the car seemed fine for a few minutes anyway. Back on the highway, I thought to take it to the closest mechanic. The car began sputtering again and both lights came back on. Im praying desperately to make it to the next traffic light so I could park at the auto shop. Although it was closed, I thanked the Lord as soon as I pulled into that parking lot.

While I sat in my car looking at my phone, an employee came to the door and motioned me in before the shop actually opened. I explained the car issues and he told me there was only one mechanic there at the moment. To make a long story short, even though there were other people there, my car was attended to immediately. While they were looking under the hood, I was calling a tow truck to come and take my car to another repair shop that actually could address the problems. I called my son and asked him to pick me up.

When. I got back home, I started replaying this scene in my mind, looking for the blessings in all of it. I thought of several: I didn’t get stuck on the side of the road, my car just made it to the auto shop, I wasn’t charged a fee, my son happened to not be at work and he answered his phone, which was surprising because everyone was asleep when I left the house.

A morning like this could easily affect the rest of your day but it’s always a choice how we’ll respond to every situation. I chose to be grateful for Gods protection, excellent customer service and that someone (my son) was available and willing to come and get me. Scriptures often come to my mind in such situations. This particular predicament brought to mind Gods own Son, Jesus, who died on a cross to rescue mankind from sin. He came for us, everyone….Im so grateful for that. We cant save ourselves from sin, only He can do that. We only need the faith to believe in Him.

The bible says “If you confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Do you believe it? If so, dear reader, please know that you’ve made the best decision of your life! My prayer is that God will reveal Himself to you in a very special way.
